Ambassador Martin Ngoga presents credentials to the UN Secretary-General

Ambassador Martin Ngoga on May 22, presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General António Guterres as Rwanda’s new Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

He replaces Ambassador Ernest Rwamucyo, who had served in the role since December 2023.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Ngoga expressed his dedication to the position, saying he was committed to working with the UN and engaging constructively to advance shared goals.

Before this appointment, Ambassador Ngoga served as Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Kenya, a role he took on in March 2023.

He has held several key positions in Rwanda and the East African Community. He served as Rwanda’s Prosecutor General and as the country’s Special Representative to the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda. In 2015, he was elected to the East African Legislative Assembly and later became its Speaker in December 2017, serving until 2022.

In addition to his government service, Ambassador Ngoga is involved in international governance. He is the Chairperson of the FIFA Ethics Committee, where he oversees issues related to ethical conduct in global football.
