Antony Blinken, the Secretary of State of the United States of America who is currently in Africa, stated that he talked to President Joao Lourenco of Angola about the longstanding conflict between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
During an interview with the media, Antony Blinken confirmed that he had discussed the conflict between Rwanda and the DRC with President Joao Lourenco of Angola, and expressed his continuous efforts to deescalate tensions.
“We believe that the Rwanda process, in tandem with the Nairobi process, offers the best hope for enduring peace,” said the US Secretary of State.
President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been provoking Rwanda for some time, along with President Évariste Ndayishimiye of Burundi, by stating that they will attack Rwanda or remove President Paul Kagame from his leadership.
During the inauguration of the 19th Umushyikirano National Council, President Paul Kagame urged Rwandans to remain calm and assured them that he does not need permission from anyone when it comes to defending the country that has suffered for so long, and which nobody has come to help.
Over the past two weeks, Blinken has spoken to Tshisekedi over the phone and met with President Paul Kagame at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
