The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have approved the renovated Amahoro Stadium to host international football competitions.

A letter from CAF to the governing body of Rwandan Football, FERWAFA, indicates that in line with previous communication, CAF acknowledges the pre-inspection report of Amahoro Stadium conducted by the FERWAFA CLM, which has been validated by CAF.

“Following the review of the report by CAF, please note that the stadium is approved for use in all upcoming CAF/FIFA competitions since it meets all the minimum CAF stadium requirements to host such matches,” a letter from CAF revealed.

CAF congratulates the stadium authority and FERWAFA for the outstanding renovation work completed at Amahoro Stadium, “setting it as one of the best venues in the African continent”.

The renovated Amahoro Stadium was completed after two years of work. Its capacity increased from 25,000 seats to 45,000, meeting all the requirements needed at an international level.

On Saturday, June 15, Amahoro Stadium will host a friendly match between two rivals of Rwandan football, APR FC and Rayon Sports, in “Umuhuro mu Amahoro”.

It is believed that the official inauguration of the stadium will take place on July 4, coinciding with the 30th Liberation Day celebration, #Kwibohora30.
