The National Electoral Commission (NEC) released the final results of the presidential elections, showing that Paul Kagame of FPR-INKOTANYI has won the election after securing 99.18% of the vote.
From Sunday, July 14th to the afternoon of July 15th, Rwandans of voting age conducted the presidential and parliamentary elections.
On Monday, July 22nd, the NEC released the final results of both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
The figures from the National Electoral Commission show that incumbent President Paul Kagame, the presidential candidate of FPR-INKOTANYI, was voted for by 62,072 in the Rwandan Diaspora and 8,882,794 by Rwandans living inside the country, giving him 99.18% of the vote in the presidential election.
Frank Habineza, the presidential candidate of the Green Party, came second in the July 14-15 polls with 0.50% of the vote, receiving votes from 1,074 in the Diaspora and 44,479 from Rwandans living inside the country.
Independent candidate Philippe Mpayimana received just 0.32% of the vote, with votes from 1,106 in the Diaspora and 28,466 from Rwandans living inside the country.
In parliamentary elections, the RPF and its allied parties secured 68.83% of the votes.
The Liberal Party (PL) secured 8.66% of the votes, the Social Democratic Party (PSD) received 8.62% of the votes, the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda got 4.56% of the votes, the Ideal Democratic Party (PDI) secured 4.61% of the votes, and PS-Imberakuri received 4.51% of the votes.
Janvier Nsengimana, the only candidate who ran as an independent, received 0.21% of the votes, falling short of the minimum 5% required to get a seat in the Chamber of Deputies.
