The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) ranked Rwanda as the 2nd most attractive and Popular place in Africa for hosting international conferences and events.

Cape Town in South Africa is ranked first in Africa.

The announcement of the ICCA 2023 rankings, released on May 13th, is a testament to Rwanda’s growing prominence as a preferred destination for international meetings and events.

This marks a significant achievement for Rwanda and its capital city, Kigali, which maintained its 2nd place ranking for the fourth consecutive year.

According to Janet Karemera, the CEO of Rwanda Convection Bureau, “This recognition is a great vote of confidence as it demonstrates Rwanda’s growing appeal as a MICE destination and highlights our commitment to excellence in hosting international events.”

Rwanda has experienced growth in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events (MICE) industry, generating revenue of $95 million in 2023, a 48 percent increase from 2022, according to the Rwanda Convention Bureau. This growth is attributed to the increase in infrastructure used to host tournaments and events.

According to the Rwanda Convention Bureau, in 2024, more than 90 events, including the 38th GCF Board Meeting (28 February – 8 March 2024), Africa CEO Forum (16 – 17 May), JCI Africa & Middle East Conference (22 – 25 May), 20th Kwita Izina (18 October), and many others, will be hosted in the country of a thousand hills.
