President Paul Kagame on this May 23, 2025, visited the Nyakabingo Wolfram Mining Station, located in Rulindo District, Northern Province. The mining site is operated by Trinity Metals, a company recognized for producing the highest quantity of wolfram (tungsten ore) on the African continent.
During the visit, President Kagame was given a guided tour of the facility, including an inspection of the underground tunnels where active mineral extraction takes place. He observed firsthand the processes involved in wolfram mining, from underground drilling operations to surface-level handling at the mineral dump site.
The visit highlights the strategic importance of Rwanda’s mining sector, particularly wolfram, which is a vital component in manufacturing, electronics, and aerospace industries. Trinity Metals’ operations at Nyakabingo continue to play a key role in bolstering Rwanda’s mineral exports and industrial development.
