On Monday, October 28, the Speaker of the Rwanda Parliament, Gertrude Kazarwa, along with Deputy Speakers Beline Uwineza and Sheikh Musa Fazil Harerimana welcomed Members of the Ghana Parliament who are in Rwanda for a benchmarking visit.
The Rwanda Parliament and Ghana Parliament have established good bilateral cooperation.
On July 20, 2022, the Parliament of Ghana and the Chamber of Deputies in the Rwanda Parliament signed a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral parliamentary cooperation.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the speakers of both Parliaments at that time.
Areas to be covered in cooperation include the initiation of capacity-building programs for both parties promoting mutual interests during different meetings of regional, international, and multilateral parliamentary bodies.
Furthermore, the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliament of Ghana and the Parliament of Rwanda, particularly the Chamber of Deputies, is designed to promote inter-parliamentary dialogue and contribute to enhancing bilateral relations and ties of friendship between the peoples of the Republic of Rwanda and the Republic of Ghana, among others.
In addition, the Parties shall develop, by mutual agreement, initiatives for building the capacity of their respective parliamentary staff; initiate staff capacity-building programs, including attachments, exchange visits, conferences, forums, training seminars, and other international events; promote the examination and exchange of information on key bilateral issues, including matters relating to parliamentary practices and procedures, and ensure exchanges of visits are done on a reciprocal basis.
