Rwandan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, met with his counterparts from France and Malta to discuss cooperation and bilateral engagements.

The meetings took place in Brussels, Belgium, on the sidelines of the 3rd African Union–European Union (AU–EU) Ministerial Meeting.

Foreign affairs ministers from the European Union and the African Union gathered for the third time to assess the progress made since the Sixth EU–AU Summit held in February 2022.

The meeting was co-chaired by Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Tete António, Minister of External Relations of Angola and Chairperson of the AU Executive Council.

Ministers exchanged views on the EU–AU partnership and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in this landmark year marking the 25th anniversary of the partnership.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Nduhungirehe held a bilateral meeting with Jean-Noël Barrot, France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

“They exchanged views on cooperation and the peace and security situation in the Great Lakes region,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on X.

Minister Nduhungirehe also met with Ian Borg, Malta’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Tourism. Their discussions focused on enhancing Rwanda–Malta cooperation and expanding bilateral engagements.
