Over 200,000 pupils Start Primary Leaving Examinations

On Monday, July 8, 2024, a total of 202,999 pupils, including 91,189 males and 111,810 females across Rwanda, have commenced their Primary Leaving Examinations of academic year 2023-2024.

The national launch took place at GS Gisozi I in Gasabo District, where the Minister of Education, Gaspard Twagirayezu, officially launched the exams alongside the City Mayor, Dusengiyumva Samuel.

In his remarks, the Minister encouraged the pupils to remain confident during their exams and extended his best wishes.

The Director General of Rwanda Education Board, REB, Mbarushimana Nelson, was at GS Nyakarenzo in Rusizi District.

This is a nationwide exercise, and a total of 202,999 pupils will be taking exams over three consecutive days.

They will cover five subjects including Mathematics, English, Social & Religious Studies, Ikinyarwanda, and Science & Elementary Technology (SET).

The exams will be conducted in 1,118 selected examination centers nationwide, involving 12,302 invigilators.

The national-level exams aim to evaluate the learning outcomes of P6 pupils who are completing their primary education and to guide their selection and orientation for lower secondary education.
