President Paul Kagame on Friday, September 13, received the Secretary-General of the East African Community (EAC), Veronica Nduva, at Village Urugwiro.
Their discussions centered around regional integration and other matters relating to the East African Community, according to the President’s Office.
Nduva was sworn in on 7 June in Juba, during the 23rd Extra-Ordinary Summit of the Arusha-based regional bloc, becoming the first woman to hold the powerful and prestigious regional position.
EAC member countries include Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, South Sudan and Somalia.
Salva Kiir Mayardit, the president of South Sudan, is the current EAC chairman.
The organization was founded in 1967, collapsed in 1977, and was revived on 7th July 2000. The main objective of the EAC is to foster regional economic integration.
