The agreement of $5 billion have been reached between Qantas and Perth Airport including reconstruction of the Airport.

The agreement will include a newly constructed runway and terminal, marking the largest-ever private infrastructure development in Perth.

Two multi-storey car parks, major access roadworks, and the airport’s first hotel are also included in the investment.

The deal will help in boosting tourism as it will turn Perth Airport into a world-class travel hub for visitors and for Western Australians, and put Perth onto the world stage for travellers.

4.4 million seats would be added to and from Perth each year by the time the new terminal opens and would give travellers better access destinations including Asia, Africa, India and Europe.

Perth Airport chief executive Jason Waters said he believe the deal will unlock the future for both Perth Airport and Qantas.

“Qantas has some ambitious growth plans for its operations in Perth and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to push ahead together to realise this potential.”

This will be the largest-ever private investment in an infrastructure development in Perth.

Thanks to the deal, Qantas and Jetstar will relocate all services to a new terminal, that will open by 2031.
