Rwanda Energy Group (REG) Women Basketball Club secured their third Rwanda Women Basketball Championship title after defeating APR WBBC 71-63 in the final game of this year’s playoffs on Friday, October 11th, 2024.
REG dominated the series, winning all four games, thus claiming the championship without needing a decisive seventh game.
This victory marks REG’s third title since the club’s founding in 2021, adding to their previous championships in 2021 and 2022. The team’s consistent performance throughout the playoffs highlights their growing dominance in Rwanda’s women’s basketball league.
Defending champions APR WBBC fought hard to retain their title but were no match for REG’s well-rounded squad. American center Kristina Morgan, who played a key role in REG’s success, was named the Playoffs Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her exceptional performance throughout the series.
REG’s impressive playoff sweep further cements their position as a powerhouse in Rwandan women’s basketball, and their third championship win in four years is a clear signal that the team is ready to dominate for seasons to come.
