Rwanda, Somalia Police forces sign cooperation agreement

Rwanda National Police (RNP) and Somalia Police Force (SPF) have signed a cooperation agreement to formalize partnership in various areas of policing.

The cooperation pact was signed Friday, June 14, between the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Felix Namuhoranye and Gen. Sulub Ahmed Firin, the Police Commissioner for Somali Police Force, at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

The agreement enables the two Police forces to work together in capacity development programmes such as training, and development of training materials, combatting transnational organized crimes, fight terrorism, human trafficking, cybercrimes, and proliferation of small arms and light weapons.

IGP Namuhoranye thanked his counterpart for honouring his invitation adding that it has provided an opportunity for the two friendly Police institutions to discuss and strengthen cross-border cooperation against security threats.

Gen. Sulub also thanked the good relations between the two Police forces. He added that the agreement is important to develop the capacity of Police officers in the face of increasing cross-border security threats, especially terrorism.
