Rwanda’s Uwayezu appointed as Simba SC CEO

Tanzania-based football club Simba Sports Club appointed Rwanda’s Uwayezu François Régis as the new Chief Executive Officer, replacing Imani Kajula who resigned a couple of months ago.

Uwayezu, currently the APR FC Vice Chairman, will assume office on August 1, 2024.

A public notice released by Simba SC stated, “Mr. Regis is an exceptionally well-organized and resourceful professional with over twelve years of progressive working experience. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance and Accounting and a Certificate of IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards).”

“His extensive career includes more than ten years in managerial positions, spanning sports, finance, and administrative management in both public and private sectors. He spent many years working as a Government Internal Auditor, Director of Administration and Finance, and Director of Operations in different institutions,” read the statement released by Simba SC.

Uwayezu François Régis served as the General Secretary of the Rwanda Football Association, FERWAFA, for three years.

He is a founding member of the Rwanda Association of Football Coaches, where he held the position of Vice President for many years.

Furthermore, he serves as a CAF General Coordinator. He also holds a UEFA Licence B coaching qualification from Koblenz, Germany in 2010.

Simba SC is one of the biggest clubs in Tanzania and the East African Region as it was founded in 1936.

This team, nicknamed Wekundu wa Msimbazi Lunyasi, is located in Kariakoo in Dar es Salaam City. Simba SC has won 22 Tanzania Championship titles, three Nyerere titles, 6 CECAFA Kagame Cups, and more.
