The French striker is understood to have already reached a personal agreement with the Italian giants, with a net salary of €3.5 million per season agreed. Mateta has now asked Palace to open discussions with AC Milan to facilitate an early transfer rather than waiting until next year. Sources close to the situation say the 26-year-old is keen to begin a new chapter of his career at San Siro as soon as possible, believing the timing is right to take on a new challenge in Serie A. His stance has added urgency to negotiations between the two clubs.

Crystal Palace, however, are expected to carefully consider their position. Mateta has been an important figure in their attacking setup, and the club will be keen to ensure any deal reflects both his value and their sporting ambitions.

For AC Milan, securing Mateta ahead of schedule would strengthen their attacking options and allow the striker time to adapt to the league and the club’s system. Milan are continuing their efforts to reinforce the squad as they aim to remain competitive in domestic and European competitions. Talks between Crystal Palace and AC Milan are now ongoing, with the player’s clear desire for an immediate move likely to play a key role in shaping the outcome.
