In Kericho County, in western Kenya, students set fire to their school after being denied the chance to watch a Premier League match between Manchester City and Arsenal. The incident happened on Sunday, September 21, 2025, during the fifth round of the Premier League. The match ended in a 1–1 draw, with Erling Haaland scoring for Manchester City and Gabriel Martinelli equalizing for Arsenal. At Litein Boys’ High School in Kericho, students were stopped from entering the hall where they usually watch games. When told they could not view the match, they became angry and set school buildings on fire. Dormitories, classrooms, and even the school bus were destroyed. The school was closed the following day. This was not the first such incident in Kenya. In May 2025, students at Mbale High School also burned down their school after being denied the chance to watch a football match.
