The 2026 season has featured 12 clubs from 12 African countries playing 42 games across three host cities, Pretoria, Rabat, and Kigali, before the playoffs stage. Kigali, a consistent host of BAL postseason basketball, closes out the continental calendar for the sixth successive season. Petro de Luanda arrive as defending champions and the only club to have featured in all six BAL seasons, while Al Ahly returns as 2023 title holders. RSSB Tigers, the sole Rwandan representative, will be playing before a home crowd. The BAL Finals are scheduled for Sunday, 31 May at BK Arena. The BAL is a partnership between FIBA and NBA Africa and marks the NBA's first collaboration to operate a professional league outside North America.
