President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has cautioned Ugandans against what he described as misleading statements by opposition figure Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, who recently suggested that citizens could overpower security forces because they outnumber them. The President made the remarks on the night of December 17, 2025, while at his residence in Kisozi, during an interview broadcast on Uganda Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) television and several radio stations nationwide. Museveni accused Kyagulanyi, his rival in the forthcoming presidential election, of attempting to incite the public to engage in protests. “I have heard Kyagulanyi say that soldiers and police officers are few while rioters are many. I advise Ugandans not to believe him. Every soldier and police officer has a gun with 120 bullets. First, calculate the total number of bullets per gun,” Museveni said. The President’s comments come amid recent campaign activities by Kyagulanyi that have reportedly been characterised by disorder and protests, prompting intervention by security agencies. Uganda’s presidential election is scheduled for January 15, 2026. Museveni, who has been in power for nearly four decades, is widely regarded as the frontrunner in the race.
