The Government of Rwanda has delivered a shipment of humanitarian assistance to Gaza, supporting civilians affected by the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Israeli forces. In a statement released by the Office of the Government Spokesperson on Thursday, May 29, 2025, it was announced that the aid was received by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, which is facilitating its onward distribution to Gaza. “As with a similar shipment in November 2024, today’s contribution to ongoing international relief efforts was received in Amman by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, and consists of over 20 tons of foodstuff and medical supplies,” the statement read. This marks Rwanda’s third humanitarian contribution to Gaza since the conflict began in October 2023. The first aid package, sent in late October 2023, included 16 tons of essential medicines, food, and water. A second shipment followed on November 7, 2024, delivering over 19 tons of fortified food for children, medicines, and other critical supplies. The conflict began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a large-scale assault on Israel, killing around 1,200 Israeli civilians and kidnapping others. This triggered a massive Israeli military response in Gaza, resulting in over 60,000 deaths and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians.
