Rwanda, Liberia Sign a General Cooperation Agreement

Rwanda and Liberia, through ministries of International Cooperation, signed a general cooperation agreement and agreed to boost cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The agreement was signed on Tuesday, 17 September, when Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, received Dr. Ibrahim Nyei, Liberia’s Deputy Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration.

“During their bilateral meeting, they signed a general cooperation agreement and agreed to boost cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed on X.

Rwanda and Liberia continue to maintain cooperation.

On 17 July 2024, Amb. Rosemary Mbabazi presented her Letters of Credence to Joseph Nyuma-Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, as Rwanda’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Liberia.

During the ceremony held at the Executive Mansion, the seat of the Liberian Presidency, Nyuma-Boakai commended the existing good relations between Rwanda and Liberia and expressed willingness to deepen cooperation, especially in business and trade.

“Rwanda continues to make great strides in rebuilding from the ashes of the genocide against the Tutsi, becoming a pride of Africa,” he shared in his speech.

The Inspector General of the Rwanda National Police, Felix Namuhoranye, on Monday, August 26, received his counterpart from the Liberia National Police, Gregory O W Coleman, at the Rwanda National Police (RNP) General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

During the meeting, the two Police Chiefs discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in various policing disciplines.
