President Paul Kagame, on November 6, congratulated President-elect Donald Trump on his election as the 47th President of the United States. He expressed a desire for a strong partnership based on mutual respect and common benefit.
“President-elect Donald Trump, I warmly congratulate you on behalf of the Government and people of Rwanda for your historic and decisive election as the 47th President of the United States,” President Kagame wrote on X.
“Your clear message has been that the United States should be a partner of choice that attracts by the force of its example, rather than by imposing its views and ways of life on others. I look forward to working with you for the common benefit of both our countries in the years ahead.”
Trump was declared the winner of the US Presidential election over Kamala Harris on Wednesday, and many leaders started wishing him congratulations.
Rwanda and the United States established diplomatic relations in 1962.
They enjoy cooperation in the health and economic sectors. These partnerships are carried out through initiatives such as Feed the Future, Global Climate Change, the Global Health Initiative, and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
Furthermore, there is growing U.S. business interest in Rwanda with private U.S. investments in tea, coffee, energy, mining, franchising, and small holdings in service and manufacturing. Rwanda also exports coffee, tungsten ore, basketwork, and apparel.
On the other hand, the U.S. exports aircraft, pharmaceutical products, machinery, medical instruments, and agricultural products to Rwanda.
