Kenyan President William Ruto, on behalf of the people and government of Kenya, congratulated President Paul Kagame following his re-election on Monday with 99.15% of the votes, according to the partial results.
From Sunday, July 14th, to the afternoon of July 15th, over nine million eligible Rwandans participated in the presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to the National Electoral Commission, Paul Kagame, the presidential candidate of FPR-INKOTANYI, received 99.15% of the vote in the presidential election, based on partial provisional results after counting 79% of the votes.
Frank Habineza, the presidential candidate of the Green Party, received 0.53% of the vote after counting 79% of the votes.
The independent candidate in the presidential race, Philippe Mpayimana, received 0.32% of the vote after counting 79% of the votes.
On Wednesday, July 17th, via a post on X, Kenyan President William Ruto extended his warm congratulations to President Paul Kagame and assured him of continued collaboration in regional and Pan-African affairs to strengthen the bonds of solidarity and fraternity between the peoples of Kenya and Rwanda.
“On behalf of the people and government of Kenya, I have the pleasure to convey my warmest congratulations upon your re-election to serve another term as President of the Republic of Rwanda,” President Ruto stated on X.
He added: “We celebrate with you the sovereign choice of the people of Rwanda and wish you success as you continue to guide your country towards peace, stability, and prosperity.”
President Ruto expressed his readiness to continue working with President Kagame on regional and Pan-African matters to enhance solidarity and friendship between the peoples of Kenya and Rwanda.
The final results for both the presidential and parliamentary elections will be released no later than July 27th, as per the NEC.
