Dr Ngirente represents President Kagame in the swearing-in ceremony of Bassirou Diomaye

On April 2nd, in Dakar, Senegal, Prime Minister of Rwanda, Dr. Ngirente, represented President Paul Kagame in the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye of Senegal.

On March 26th, the Senegal Electoral Commission announced the results of the March 24th Presidential election, showing that 44-year-old Bassirou Diomaye Faye had been elected as the leader of Senegal with 53.7% of the votes.

On March 27th, President Paul Kagame congratulated Bassirou Diomaye Faye on his election as President of Senegal.

“Your victory is a true testament to the confidence of the Senegalese people, whom I congratulate for the peaceful conduct of the elections,” President Paul Kagame wrote on X.

“I look forward to further strengthening the good relations between our two nations,” President Kagame added on X.

Rwanda and Senegal have maintained a positive political relationship since 2011, with Rwanda having an ambassador representing them in Senegal.

In 2016, a Joint Commission was established to monitor the relations between the two countries.

In the health sector, Rwanda and Senegal signed an agreement to produce vaccines with the BioNtech plant. When the plant was officially opened in Kigali in 2023, Macky Sall was among the special guests.
