Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania congratulated President Paul Kagame of Rwanda for his re-election with 99.15% of the votes, according to the partial results. Both assured him they would continue working together to foster relations between their countries.
From Sunday, July 14th, to the afternoon of July 15th, over nine million eligible Rwandans participated in the presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to the National Electoral Commission, Paul Kagame, the presidential candidate of the FPR-INKOTANYI, won the election by receiving 99.15% of the vote based on partial provisional results after counting 79% of the votes.
Frank Habineza, the presidential candidate of the Green Party, received 0.53% of the vote after 79% of the votes were counted.
The independent candidate in the presidential race, Philippe Mpayimana, received 0.32% of the vote after 79% of the votes were counted.
Heads of state across the continent continue to congratulate President Kagame.

Samia Suluhu Hassan, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, extended her congratulations to Paul Kagame.
“On behalf of the Government and the People of the United Republic of Tanzania, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency Paul Kagame on being re-elected as the President of the Republic of Rwanda. I look forward to continuing working with you to foster relations between our countries and pursue East Africa’s unity and prosperity,” President Samia Suluhu stated on X.
Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed also congratulated President Kagame for his re-election.
“Congratulations President Paul Kagame on your re-election. Wishing you continued success in your upcoming term. May your leadership bring further stability and development to Rwanda,” Abiy Ahmed stated on X.

Other African presidents who congratulated President Kagame are President Phillip Nyusi of Mozambique, Madagascar President Andry Rajoelina, and William Ruto of Kenya.
