Hategeka Presents Letters of Credence to Mauritius President

High Commissioner Emmanuel Hategeka presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Prithvirajsing Roopun, as Rwanda’s Non-Resident High Commissioner.

On Tuesday, at the State House in Réduit, Hategeka conveyed warm greetings from President Paul Kagame and his desire to strengthen bilateral relations between Rwanda and Mauritius.

In a statement following the meeting, High Commissioner Hategeka highlighted the longstanding and positive relations between Rwanda and Mauritius, which have been strong for over two decades. He noted that there is a mutual desire to further enhance these relations.

Furthermore, High Commissioner Hategeka indicated that a key proposal was discussed on the establishment of a joint permanent commission to develop and implement a comprehensive bilateral cooperation program, moving beyond mere signing of Memorandums of Understanding to active implementation.

Moreover, he emphasized the intention to increase connectivity between the two countries to foster people-to-people diplomacy and expand economic collaboration. He stressed the commitment to work closely with Mauritian authorities to advance and elevate the bilateral relationship to new heights.

“Rwanda and Mauritius do enjoy strong bilateral ties, and I was especially pleased with the high level of engagement with the country’s leadership. Going forward, relations can only be stronger for the mutual benefit of our two peoples,” High Commissioner Hategeka posted on X formerly Twitter.

Rwanda and Mauritius have enjoyed strong bilateral relations since 2000, built on mutual respect and cooperation. In 2023, the two nations signed a General Cooperation Agreement, providing a framework for further deepening this partnership.
