Kabarebe, High Commissioner of India to Rwanda Discuss Strengthening Cooperation

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation, Gen. (Rtd) James Kabarebe, received Mridu Pawan Das, High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Rwanda for a courtesy call.

“They discussed strengthening cooperation across a range of sectors including education, trade, and investment”, the Rwanda Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Bilateral relations between India and Rwanda have been growing stronger over the years.

The bilateral cooperation between India and Rwanda covers a broad range of areas, including development cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, education, training, and capacity building. It has expanded beyond development cooperation to include defense and security.

In trade, India’s exports to Rwanda during 2020-21 were US $134.29 million, whereas India’s imports from Rwanda stood at US$6.67 million for the same period.

Major items of India’s exports to Rwanda include electrical and mechanical machinery, pharmaceuticals, and vehicles.

Major imports from Rwanda include Metallic Articles (Aluminum, Lead, and Copper), Precious and Semi-Precious Stones, Tea, and Coffee.
