Minister Gen. (Rtd) Kabarebe Meets Rwandan Community in Japan

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation, Gen. (Rtd) James Kabarebe, met with the Rwandan Community in Japan.

According to a tweet from the Rwandan Embassy in Japan, they expressed deep gratitude for the current leadership in Rwanda, which has restored their pride and dignity both at home and abroad.

“During the meeting, some students shared details of projects they are pursuing. The community reaffirmed their commitment to working together and thanked the government for facilitating their participation in the general elections last month,” a tweet from the Rwanda Embassy in Japan revealed.

At the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) Ministerial Meetings which concluded on August 25, Minister of State Gen. (Rtd) James Kabarebe held discussions with Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Tsuji Kiyoto, reaffirming the strong and positive relationship between Rwanda and Japan.

Rwanda’s participation in these meetings centered on identifying new opportunities to drive growth and development that will benefit the people of both nations as they prepare for the upcoming summit.

A two-day ministerial meeting of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development, or TICAD, ended Sunday.

Gathered in Tokyo, ministers and minister-level officials from Japan and 41 African countries discussed a wide range of topics such as health, climate change, and business. They agreed that reforming the U.N. Security Council is “indispensable for redressing historical injustices against Africa,” according to the joint communique.
