Minister Kabarebe Chairs 54th Extra Ordinary Meeting of EAC

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation, Gen. (Rtd) James Kabarebe, participated in the 54th Extraordinary Meeting of the EAC Council of Ministers held in Nairobi to discuss regional matters.

The meeting concluded on Thursday with Veronica Mueni NDUVA, Secretary-General of the East Africa Community, leading the EAC Secretariat delegation at the Ministerial Session, focusing on integration and regional cooperation.

Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and delegates from EAC Partner States were convened in Kiambu, Kenya to deliberate on regional issues.

The EAC’s membership consists of eight states: the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the Republics of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, and Tanzania.
Salva Kiir Mayardit, the president of South Sudan, is the current EAC chairman. The organization was founded in 1967, collapsed in 1977, and was revived on 7th July 2000. The main objective of the EAC is to foster regional economic integration.
