Minister Nduhungirehe Receives Copies of Letters of Credence of New Envoys

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Amb. Olivier Nduhungirehe, received copies of Letters of Credence from Ambassadors-Designated to Rwanda.

The copies of Letters of Credence received are from Ms. Genţiana Șerbu of Romania, Mr. Enrique Javier Ochoa Martínez of the United Mexican States, and Mr. Ruslan Rafael Oglu Nasibov of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Yesterday, on Tuesday, August 27, Minister Nduhungirehe received copies of Letters of Credence from new envoys to Rwanda.

The copies that were received included those of Ms. Alison Heather Thorpe, High Commissioner-designate of the United Kingdom, Mr. Mirdu Pawan Das, High Commissioner-designate of India, Ms. Fátima Yesenia Fernandes Juárez, Ambassador-designate of Venezuela, and Mr. Mauro Massoni, Ambassador-designate of Italy.

Rwanda and India Cooperation

Bilateral relations between India and Rwanda have been growing stronger over the years. In 1999, Rwanda officially opened its Mission in New Delhi and posted a Chargé d’Affaires. Rwanda appointed its first resident Ambassador in New Delhi in 2001.

The bilateral cooperation between India and Rwanda has grown to cover a broad range of areas, including development cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, education, training, and capacity building. It has expanded beyond development cooperation to include defense and security.

India has, until now, been represented to Rwanda by the Indian High Commissioner with residence in Kampala. India has now opened a resident Mission in Kigali.

Rwanda and Venezuela Cooperation

The diplomatic relationship between Rwanda and Venezuela dates back to August 18, 1981.

Since then, both countries have been working together to strengthen their diplomatic ties and foster mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas.

In 2023, Rwanda and Venezuela, through their Ministers of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Visa Waiver for holders of Diplomatic, Official, and Special passports.

Minister Nduhungirehe received copies of Letter of Credence from Ms. Genţiana Șerbu, Ambassador Designate of Romania to Rwanda.
