NSW: Officer accused of stealing handbag, cash and jewellery while on duty

Court documents show 42-year-old Sydney police officer, Constable Yun Lin allegedly stole luxury purse, jewellery and cash while on the duty and she is now stationed at Eastwood.

According to a charge sheet, the officer allegedly used her position to commit theft in Ryde between 7pm on August 29 and 6.30am on August 30 last year.

She is accused of stealing a Louis Vuitton clutch purse, $170 in cash, three gold bracelets, colored charms, and a gift bag. ABC News reported.

She additionally stole $70 in cash, police also alleged her between 7pm on January 11 and 6am on January 12.

She has been suspended with pay as she faces two counts of larceny as a public servant.

Ms Lin didn’t appear at Hornsby Local Court on Wednesday while her matter was heard briefly. 

Under section 159 of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW), Larceny by persons in Public Service carries a maximum punishment of 10 years in jail.

Ms Lin is yet to enter a plea and her case is due to return to court on Wednesday, April 10.
