On Wednesday, September 4, on the sidelines of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), President Paul Kagame had bilateral meetings with President Wavel Ramkalawan of Seychelles and President William Ruto of Kenya.

“Both meetings discussed ways to further strengthen the already existing productive bilateral relations,” a tweet from Village Urugwiro revealed.

President Kagame arrived in Beijing on Tuesday, where he joined other African Leaders at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit. The summit started on Wednesday and will continue through Friday.

Rwanda and Kenya have enjoyed cordial bilateral ties across different sectors of development for a long time.

In April 2023, Rwanda and Kenya signed nine agreements aimed at creating frameworks for cooperation in mutual areas of interest. This was part of the agenda of President William Ruto’s two-day state visit to Rwanda, where he held bilateral talks with President Paul Kagame and will later be hosted at a state banquet tonight.

Six agreements were signed by both countries’ Ministers of Foreign Affairs, including correctional services, diplomatic training, ICT, health, youth, and cooperative development.

President Ramkalawan of Seychelles is one of the many African Leaders who attended the inauguration ceremony of President Kagame on August 11.
