The Deputy Inspector General (DIGP) of Rwanda National Police (RNP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, DCG Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza has reminded community policing officers from different units to work closely with the people for the benefit of the latter, whom the force is mandated to protect and serve.

RNP stated that DIGP Ujeneza made the call on Friday, March 30, while officially opening a two-day retreat for 50 regional and district community policing officers as well as those from other specialized units, at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

She told them to know what they stand for as community policing officers, build strong relations with the people, and work together in crime prevention and human security programmes.

“As community policing officers, build strong collaboration with the citizenry for better crime prevention and human security results. It is through this good partnership that will further strengthen neighborhood watch and timely information exchange to be able to detect and solve problems and conflicts around them,” DIGP Ujeneza said.

“Through positive collaborative efforts, shared insights, and strategic planning activities; the retreat should empower you with the necessary package to make a meaningful impact on crime prevention and community development, to build crime-free villages,” the Rwanda National Police Deputy Inspector General added.

DIGP Ujeneza added that the retreat is a time to refresh and reset goals to further strengthen their roles and contribute to fight and prevent crimes.
