This afternoon, President Paul Kagame and President Andrzej Duda of Poland witnessed the signing of agreements on trade and economic cooperation, as well as in the fields of green technologies, environmental engineering, geology, and energy efficiency.

The agreements were signed by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs on both sides, Dr Vincent Biruta and Andrzej Szejna of Poland, on Wednesday, February 7.

This is one of the main reasons why President Andrzej Duda of Poland made a three-day visit to Rwanda, where he arrived in Kigali on the evening of February 6.

During the Joint Press Conference between the Heads of State, President Andrzej Sebastian Duda of Poland said that the Polish people are very courageous and that nothing can be achieved without putting in more effort.

“We have no doubt that in Rwanda we have common friends who also have the goal of rebuilding and investing in their country and living a peaceful life. I hope we can build a strong relationship in the future,” said President Andrzej Sebastian Duda.

President Andrzej Sebastian Duda also thanked President Kagame for inviting him to visit Rwanda.

“For me, it is of great value because it is the first time that the President of Poland has visited Rwanda. We have had diplomatic relations for 62 years, which means that this is an important moment.”

President Kagame said that the government of Poland has directly contributed to the development of Rwanda and Rwandans are very grateful for that.

“The Government of Poland has directly contributed to our country’s development and I am very grateful for this. A notable example is Poland’s longstanding support for the school and education center for visually impaired children in Kibeho,” President Kagame said.

After witnessing the signing of cooperation agreements between both countries, it is expected that President Andrzej Duda will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial and attend a Polish business forum, among other activities.
