Rwanda, Korea discuss to further enhancing cooperation

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Vincent Biruta, received Mr. Ju-young Lee, Special Envoy of the Government of the Republic of Korea, and discussed ways to further enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X stated that Mr. Ju-young Lee was in Rwanda for the 30th Commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi.

Rwanda established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Korea in 1963.

The relationship grew stronger with the opening of a diplomatic bureau in November 2008, which was later upgraded to an embassy in February 2009.

The two countries cooperate closely in agriculture, education, the development of medical technology, and other areas.

In 2020, South Korea signed an agreement with Rwanda that allows both countries to share airspace, known as the Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA).

In August 2023, Rwanda and South Korea signed two important agreements in Political Cooperation aimed at increasing political dialogue and sustainable cooperation between the two countries.
