Mr Francis Gatare, Chief Executive Officer of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB), announced that the economy of Rwanda shows promising signs for the future.

On Friday, 2nd February, the Rwanda Day Summit 2024 began in Washington DC, United States.

On the first day of the meeting, an economics summit was organized by the RDB.

The summit was attended by Rwandans from various states in the United States, Europe, and other parts of the world. Its aim was to bring together Rwandan investors and those living abroad under the theme “Business and Careers, between Diaspora & Home”.

RDB CEO, Francis Gatare, informed the participants that like many other countries, Rwanda’s economy was disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He stated that, due to the important role and effective policies implemented by the government, Rwanda’s economy has recovered and returned to normal in a better state than before.

As an example, he mentioned that in 2022, the economy grew by 8.2% and the tourism sector experienced a 51% growth rate compared to pre-Covid-19 levels.

“The future of our country and economy is bright,” said Francis Gatare, RDB CEO.

He encouraged investors to consider investing in Rwanda and highlighted opportunities, such as the mining sector.

During the meeting, there was also a discussion on the economy and capacity building processes between those in the diaspora and those in Rwanda.

Panelists included Charity Kabango, founder of Entrepreneurial Solutions Partners; Pascal Murasira, boss of Norrsken Africa; Jeanne Mubiligi from PSF and Shawn McCormick, who oversees Trinity Metals Rwanda.
