Rwandan chief executive officer (CEO) of Rwanda Stock Exhange, Pierre-Célestin RWABUKUMBA has been appointed as president of African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA), revealed this Wednesday.
ASEA is the Apex Body for the African Stock Exchanges and Securities trading and settlement infrastructure providers.
Rwabukumba is set to start his duty on May 1 replacing Motswana Thapelo Tsheole who resigned as CEO of the Botswana Stock Exchange, effective 31 May 2024 and consequently as the president of ASEA.
Thapelo only served in the position for 15 months after being elected in November 2022 at the Association’s 26th Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Rwabukumba is new in the position but not in the committee as he joined the ASEA Executive Committee in November 2018 and was elected as Vice-President in November 2022.
Rwabukumba has served as Rwanda Stock Exhange’s president from the commencement of the body in 2011.
