The Rwandan High Commissioner for Mozambique, Donath Ndamage, conducted a one-day visit to the Rwanda Security Force Headquarters in the Mocimboa da Praia district on March 27, 2024.
The purpose of the visit was to interact with the Rwanda Security Force Commander and obtain factual information on the security situation in Cabo Delgado province.
He was given a warm reception by the Rwanda Security Force – Joint Task Force Commander, Major General Alex Kagame, who briefed him on the current security situation in the RSF Area of Responsibility and in Cabo Delgado Province, according to the RDF.
The High Commissioner appreciated the reception and commended the achievements made by the RSF since the deployment of the Rwanda Security Forces in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.
He promised diplomatic advocacy and collaboration to ensure the effective implementation of RSF responsibilities.
Since 2021, the Rwanda Security Force has been deployed in Mozambique to fight against the Islamic terrorist group, Ansar al-Sunna, that have killed people.
Currently, security has been restored in many parts of Cabo Delgado Province. Schools are reopening, and people are returning to their shelters, while terrorist fighters are fleeing into the forests.
