The gesture followed Gorimbo’s emotional rise in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, where he had spoken openly about the difficulties he faced while trying to establish himself in the sport. Despite competing on one of the world’s biggest combat sports stages, the fighter revealed that he was struggling to make ends meet at the time. Gorimbo’s story gained attention after his first UFC victory, when he disclosed that he had entered the fight with very little money to his name. His honesty resonated with fans and athletes alike, and eventually reached Johnson, who said he was inspired by Gorimbo’s determination. The American star later surprised the fighter by purchasing a house for him, providing long-term stability and easing the pressures he faced outside the octagon. Gorimbo described the support as life-changing, saying it allowed him to focus fully on his career.

Themba Grambo, who represents Zimbabwe, has since become a symbol of perseverance for many young African athletes seeking opportunities in international sport. His journey has highlighted the financial challenges faced by fighters early in their careers, particularly those from developing nations. Although the event took place in 2023, the story continues to circulate widely on social media as Gorimbo’s UFC career develops, with many praising Johnson’s intervention as an example of how high-profile figures can use their influence to support emerging talent. Dwayne Johnson has previously been involved in charitable initiatives, but his support for Gorimbo remains one of the most widely shared examples of athlete-to-athlete solidarity in recent years.
