Alan Jones, the 83-year-old former broadcaster, is set to face an additional eight indecent assault charges during his first court appearance at Sydney’s Downing Centre on Wednesday. These new charges bring the total number to 34, stemming from allegations involving nine victims. The offences, which allegedly occurred between 2001 and 2019, include aggravated indecent assault, assault with an act of indecency, and sexually touching without consent. The youngest alleged victim was 17 years old at the time. Jones, who was arrested in November 2023, has maintained his innocence, with his lawyer Chris Murphy stating that he will defend the charges. Following the arrest, NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb encouraged more victims to come forward, asserting that no case is too old to investigate. The State Crime Command’s child abuse squad launched Strike Force Bonnefin in March 2024 to investigate the allegations.
