In a heartfelt speech following his re-election victory, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed his deep gratitude to those who played key roles in securing the win for the Labor Party. The atmosphere was charged with energy as Albanese took the stage, beginning his thank-you’s with his Deputy, Richard Marles, before acknowledging a wide array of individuals and groups who contributed to his success. "Firstly, I’d like to thank my amazing Labor caucus," Albanese said, reflecting on the strength and unity of his team. "When you look across the benches, it is representative of the Australian people," he added, drawing attention to the diverse nature of his party and its commitment to serving the entire nation. He went on to express his appreciation for every Labor candidate who stepped forward in the election, dedicating their time and efforts to both the party and their communities. One of the most significant moments of Albanese’s speech was his recognition of Ali France, who made history by unseating opposition leader Peter Dutton in the Queensland seat of Dickson. "A special shout-out to Ali France," Albanese said, acknowledging her hard-fought victory. His gratitude didn’t stop there—he also thanked his constituents in Grayndler, where he has been a longtime representative. "From Lilyfield to Leichardt, all the way here, I’m sorry, but I won’t be moving back for a little while," Albanese joked, adding a personal touch to his address. "It’s an incredible privilege to serve a community that you love, and I do love it." The thank-yous continued as Albanese expressed his appreciation for the Labor rank and file members, as well as the "mighty trade union movement of Australia," a remark that was met with a rousing cheer from the crowd. He also took a moment to thank National Secretary Paul Erikson, who had just become a father during the campaign, a gesture that earned applause. Albanese then turned his focus to his personal team, led by Tim Gartrell, for their relentless work throughout the campaign. However, it was his final thank-yous, directed toward his family, that brought an emotional conclusion to his speech. “To my son, Nathan," Albanese said, his voice trembling slightly. "Who’s grown into a fine young man who I am just so proud of, thank you.” He paused to embrace Nathan, a moment of pride and love shared between father and son. Albanese then expressed his gratitude to his partner, Jodie. "I am so grateful for your support, your friendship, and your love,” he said, his words resonating with the warmth of personal connection and appreciation. As the crowd cheered, Albanese concluded his speech with a deep sense of humility and gratitude, acknowledging the many people and movements that had supported him and the Labor Party in their journey toward another term in government.
