During their stay in Rwanda, the Australian visitors are scheduled to play three friendly matches against Rwandan clubs. The games will provide an opportunity for the young players to experience a different football environment while interacting with local players and coaches. Beyond football, the delegation will take part in community activities, including Umuganda and tree planting. The programme is intended to allow the visitors to engage directly with local communities and experience Rwanda beyond the football pitch. The delegation will also visit some of Rwanda’s major cultural and tourism attractions, including Akagera National Park and the King’s Palace in Nyanza. Como-Jannali FC President Adam Cranney said the tour is an opportunity for the club to build relationships between Australia and Rwanda, while also contributing to community activities and supporting the development of women’s football. Founded in 1956, Como-Jannali FC is based in New South Wales and competes within the Sutherland Shire Football Association. The club has around 1,000 registered players across its junior and senior teams. The Rwanda tour was facilitated through connections between the club and Rwandans living in Sydney, with the initiative also linked to Visit Rwanda. For the Under-18 players, the trip offers an experience that extends beyond competition. Through football, community work and cultural activities, the delegation will have an opportunity to build relationships and take home memories from their first experience in Rwanda. The visit comes as football continues to serve as a platform for connecting young people and communities across borders, with Rwanda welcoming the Australian delegation for a programme centred on sport, friendship and cultural exchange.
