The Vice Chancellor of East African University Rwanda (EAUR), Prof. Kabera Callixte, has urged graduates to adopt a mindset that transforms challenges into opportunities that can drive both personal and national development. He delivered this message on Friday, October 31, 2025, during the university’s 6th graduation ceremony held at Nyagatare Stadium, an event that coincided with the celebration of EAUR’s 10th anniversary since its establishment in 2015. The colorful ceremony brought together 531 graduates from various faculties, parents, academic staff, government officials, and development partners. Of these, 521 completed Bachelor’s degrees, four received Diplomas, and six were awarded Certificates after completing short professional courses. Out of the total graduates, 53% were men and 47% were women, while several came from eight foreign countries, including Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Gabon, and Liberia — highlighting EAUR’s regional diversity. In his inspiring address, Prof. Kabera emphasized that the knowledge and skills acquired from EAUR should prepare the graduates to face real-world challenges with resilience and innovation rather than becoming problems themselves. “Your success is what will keep our institution’s name moving forward,” he said. “The knowledge and abilities you’ve gained at EAUR have fully equipped you to face the challenges of the job market. Your duty now is to turn those challenges into opportunities.” He further reminded the graduates that education is not merely about obtaining a certificate, but about building character and contributing solutions to the pressing issues of society.

Prof. Kabera Callixte urges EAUR graduates to turn life’s challenges into stepping stones for success.

“We don’t expect you to be a burden to your families or to the Rwandan community,” he added. “Instead, we expect you to be part of the solution that this country needs.” Representing the graduating class, Mugabo David expressed gratitude to the university administration and to parents for their support throughout the three-year academic journey. “Our parents have been the foundation of our dreams,” he said. “Without their support, this day would not have been possible.” EAUR, located in Nyagatare District with an additional campus in Kigali, continues to position itself as a center of academic excellence and innovation in the region. The university offers programs in Mass Communication, Film Making and Film Production, Leisure, Tourism and Hotel Management, Education, Business Administration, and Industrial Art and Design, among others. Since its establishment in 2015, the university has produced over 2,000 graduates in six cohorts, contributing skilled professionals to both Rwanda and the broader East African region.

531 EAUR graduates step into the future, ready to turn challenges into opportunities.

Over the years, EAUR has become known for its mission of “cultivating knowledge, character, and opportunity”, and has steadily grown into one of Rwanda’s notable private universities, attracting students from across Africa. The 10th anniversary and 6th graduation ceremony reflected EAUR’s commitment to academic growth, gender inclusivity, and international cooperation. With the guidance of visionary leaders such as Prof. Kabera Callixte, the institution continues to nurture graduates capable of transforming not just their own lives, but also their communities.
