The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has officially opened its long-awaited four-star hotel after 11 years of construction. The facility was inaugurated by hosting the Rwanda U17 national football team, which is currently in camp preparing for the CECAFA U17 Championship set to begin on November 15, 2025, in Ethiopia. The team, placed in Group A alongside Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and South Sudan, will compete for a spot in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations. Construction of the FERWAFA Hotel began in August 2015 and was initially scheduled for completion in late 2016. The project, valued at $4 million (approximately Rwf 4 billion), was financed by FIFA and the Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF). However, several challenges delayed its completion. Only one wing was finalized, comprising 42 rooms, two large dining areas, offices, and two conference halls. Work resumed in June 2021 and was completed in early 2023. Besides accommodating national teams, the hotel will welcome the public. A 1,000-seat mini-stadium is also being built nearby to complement Kigali Pelé Stadium. The project is expected to enhance Rwanda’s sports infrastructure and reduce FERWAFA’s expenses on accommodation for national teams.
