This undermines the long-standing principles that have guided U.S.-Israel relations.” Amsalem also criticized the U.S. for excluding Israel from discussions regarding the release of Edan Alexander, the Israeli-American captive held in Gaza. He described the move as “improper” and emphasized that Israel would not bow to American pressure, particularly if Trump pushes for a softened stance on Hamas or the establishment of a Palestinian state. “If Trump demands we stop the war in Gaza and leave Hamas intact — that won’t happen,” Amsalem said. “If he tries to impose a Palestinian state, we’ll firmly reject it. We will continue to act according to Israel’s interests.”
