Burundian forward Jean Claude Girumugisha has been named the 2025/26 BK Pro League Player of the Season, capping off a remarkable campaign with Al Hilal SC by taking home the league's top individual honour and a brand-new car valued at RWF 15 million. The prestigious award was presented during the inaugural BK Pro League Awards, a landmark event organized by the Rwanda Premier League to celebrate the best performers of the 2025/26 season. Sponsored by ePoBox, the Player of the Season accolade became the most valuable individual prize ever awarded in Rwandan top-flight football. Girumugisha played a pivotal role in Al Hilal SC's title-winning campaign. The Sudanese club competed in Rwanda after receiving approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Rwanda Premier League due to the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Despite playing away from home throughout the season, Al Hilal adapted impressively and went on to secure the league championship. The Burundian international contributed nine league goals and consistently delivered influential performances that made him one of the standout players in the competition. His impact in attack and ability to perform in crucial matches were key factors behind Al Hilal's successful season. To win the award, Girumugisha beat a strong field of nominees, including Mbonyumwami Taiba of Marine FC, his Al Hilal teammate Madické Kane, Djibril Ouattara of APR FC, and Byiringiro Jean Gilbert, also of APR FC. Receiving the league's highest individual recognition further strengthens Girumugisha's growing reputation as one of East Africa's brightest football talents. His performances throughout the season not only inspired Al Hilal's historic triumph but also earned him a place among the elite players in Rwandan football. The inaugural BK Pro League Awards marked a new chapter for Rwandan football by recognizing excellence both on and off the pitch, with Girumugisha's outstanding season standing out as one of the competition's defining stories.
