Australia’s Jillaroos produced a dominant performance to defeat England 78-0 at the Women’s Rugby League World Cup on Saturday, October 24, 2026, although the victory was overshadowed by a broken wrist that ruled star centre Julia Robinson out of the tournament.
The Australian side scored 15 tries in a one-sided Pool A encounter, with 11 different players crossing the try line. Jaime Chapman, Jocelyn Kelleher, Isabelle Kelly and Abbi Church each scored twice as the Jillaroos showcased their attacking strength.
Robinson also scored a try in the 16th minute before suffering the injury just minutes later. Her left wrist became trapped during a tackle involving teammate Shaylee Bent and England winger Amelia Brown.
The Brisbane Broncos star immediately showed signs of pain and left the field before being taken to hospital. Her broken wrist ended her participation in the tournament, dealing Australia a significant setback despite their commanding victory.
The result fell short of Australia’s 90-4 victory over England in Las Vegas in early 2025. Nevertheless, the Jillaroos maintained their impressive form and moved to the top of Pool A after recording two wins, with a points differential of 118-0.
The match continued a weekend of one-sided results across the men’s and women’s competitions. England’s men defeated France 82-0, while Samoa beat Papua New Guinea 64-6 in the men’s tournament.
In the women’s competition, Fiji defeated Papua New Guinea’s Orchids 40-4, while Fetu Samoa recorded a 76-0 victory over Wales on Friday.
Australia’s emphatic win strengthens its position in the tournament as the team continues its pursuit of the title. However, Robinson’s absence could prove costly as the competition progresses, given her importance to the Jillaroos’ attacking options.
The Australian side will now look to maintain its winning momentum while adjusting to the loss of one of its key players.
