The 2025/2026 Rwanda Premier League entered Matchday 7 with intensity and excitement, highlighted by APR FC’s impressive victory over archrivals Rayon Sports. The weekend produced drama, goals, and a shift in the title race as Police FC tightened their grip on top spot. At the Kigali Pelé Stadium, APR FC head coach Taleb made decisive tactical adjustments in the second half, bringing on Denis Omedi and Mamadou Sy for Mugisha Gilbert and William Togui—the latter having earlier scored APR’s second goal. The substitutions proved effective, with Mamadou Sy adding pace and attacking threat against a tiring Rayon defense. APR nearly extended their lead in the 69th minute when Pavelh Ndzila, Rayon’s goalkeeper, made a costly mistake while attempting to dribble past Sy. The Mauritanian striker intercepted, shot towards goal, but the ball struck the post before Kabange cleared for a corner. Rayon Sports, struggling to create scoring chances, made another change late in the 85th minute when Tony Kitoga was replaced by Sindi Paul Jesus, but the move failed to change the rhythm of the game. The decisive moment came in stoppage time. In the 93rd minute, Rushema Chriss misjudged a back pass, allowing Mamadou Sy to intercept, dribble past Ndzila, and calmly slot home the third goal. The strike sealed a 3–1 victory for APR FC, sparking jubilant celebrations among fans of the army club. The win propelled APR FC to fourth place on the table with 11 points—six behind league leaders Police FC, who top with 17 points from seven matches. Rayon Sports remain second with 13 points, while Gasogi United and Musanze FC are tied on 12 points each in third and fourth places respectively. Elsewhere, the weekend’s other fixtures ended as follows: Etincelles 0–0 Rutsiro, Gorilla 0–1 Amagaju, AS Muhanga 0–2 Marine, Mukura VS 0–2 Gasogi United, and Musanze 3–2 Gicumbi. Looking ahead to Matchday 8, APR FC will travel to Musanze FC on November 22, while Rayon Sports will host AS Kigali the following day at the Kigali Pelé Stadium. The upcoming matches promise more action as the title race continues to heat up.
