The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) and the Rwanda Premier League Management have announced a joint press conference to discuss the participation of Sudanese clubs in the upcoming 2025–2026 Rwanda Premier League season.

The event will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the FERWAFA Board Room and will be broadcast live on FERWAFA TV (YouTube). Media houses, including TV and radio stations, are invited to attend.

The main focus of the conference will be the official confirmation of three top Sudanese clubs — Al Hilal S.C, Al Merrikh S.C, and El Ahli S.C Wad Medani — being granted permission to compete in Rwanda’s top-flight league. This move comes as Sudanese football continues to face challenges due to the ongoing instability in their home country.

By allowing these clubs to join, FERWAFA aims to strengthen regional football cooperation, promote competitive balance, and enhance Rwanda’s reputation as a growing football hub in East and Central Africa. It is also seen as a humanitarian gesture that keeps the spirit of competition alive for players and fans affected by the crisis in Sudan.

During the briefing, the FERWAFA President and the Head of the Rwanda Premier League will provide detailed explanations on the competition framework, registration procedures, and how the inclusion of these clubs will fit within the existing league structure.
