U.S President Donald Trump has unveiled a new visa program called the “Gold Card,” designed for wealthy foreign nationals willing to invest at least $1 million in the United States. The card will give buyers a "direct path to Citizenship for all qualified and vetted people. SO EXCITING! Our Great American Companies can finally keep their invaluable Talent," Trump said on social media on Wednesday. The Gold Card, first introduced earlier this year, is intended for individuals who can demonstrate that they will provide a “significant benefit” to the United States, according to the program’s website. The announcement comes as Washington continues to tighten immigration policies, including raising fees for work visas and increasing deportations of undocumented migrants. The program promises holders a fast-tracked right to live in the United States. Reports indicate that business owners or companies seeking to bring employees into the country must pay $2 million, in addition to processing fees that vary depending on the stage of the application. The website also outlines a “Gold Card Platinum,” priced at $5 million, which will include special tax benefits. Each applicant is required to pay a non-refundable $15,000 initial fee before their application is reviewed.
