Simon Kennedy has preselected by the Liberal Party to replace retired former Prime Minister Scott Morrison – gave his final speech to the parliament last month- in his southern Sydney seat.

Mr Kennedy picked over local mayor Carmelo Pesce with 158 votes to 90 votes in the final round of voting tonight.

Previously in 2022, Mr Kennedy failed to hold the inner-city seat of Bennelong as by the time he vocally opposed COVID-19 vaccine mandates when running for the seat.

Other than that he said that he and his family were vaccinated and encouraged others to do the same.
